On December 4, 1967 Jimi Hendrix threw his Flying V into an amp at a gig at the City Hall, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne after becoming frustrated with his equipment. The guitar stayed lodged in the cabinet like a giant arrow. And as Hendrix manager Chas Chandler recalled, " The audience thought it was part of the act, the amp just went ‘rmmmmm’, and from that minute nothing else went wrong. It was just one of those little magic seconds. It just altered the balance of the act and he went on to just tear the place apart.”
