History of the Fender 1954 Telecaster guitar and pickups.:
Fender 1954 era Telecaster guitar pickup distinguish themselves from prior Broadcaster, Nocaster, and Telecaster pickups with their use of Alnico 5 magnets for both bridge and neck pickups. The change from Alnico 3 to Alnico 5 in the 1954 Telecaster bridge pickup increase pick attack and treble bite when compared the same resistance pickup with Alnico 3 magnets. 1954 era Telecaster bridge pickups also have a lower turn count than the earlier and higher turn count Nocaster pickups. The lower turn count combined with A5 rod magnets gives a wirey tone and feel that snarls with hard pick attack. These characteristics secure the Telecasters status as the iconic country guitar and tone for the ages. |
